PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS 1. AGE - Must be at least 23 years of age. 2.
EXPERIENCE -
Applicant/Driver must have a minimum of two years
over-the-road driving experience. (Driving experience must be within the past 5 years, in a
vehicle similar to that of use by Elliott Truck Line, Inc.)
3. ENDORSEMENTS - Must have Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. 4.
DRIVING RECORD
No person will be employed with ELLIOTT TRUCK LINE, INC. with the following violations on their MVR'S: (a) Any revocation or suspension of a driver's license for DWI. (b) Any revocation or suspension of a driver's license for operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled drug. (c) Leaving the scene of an accident which resulted in personal injury or death in the past 5 years. (d) The commission of a felony which involved a motor vehicle. (e) More than 2 moving violations within the past 12 months. More than four moving violations within the past 24 months. (f) Any suspension of license or permit to drive a motor vehicle which has not been re-instated by the state authority that suspended such license. (g) Any individual whose MVR indicates a tendency of disregard or indifference toward his own or public safety... or one which demonstrates his unfitness in the public interest to be a driver of a motor vehicle in interstate commerce.
DRIVERS' PAY SCALE AND BENEFITS

All drivers are required to fill out the appropriate paperwork to
receive detention and
layover pay.
ALL DRIVERS ARE TO HAVE A TELEPHONE; IF NOT, THE PERCENTAGE OF PAY WILL HOLD AT 23% AND HE WILL NOT BE DUE A GUARANTEE UNTIL A PHONE HAS BEEN INSTALLED. ***** NO EXCEPTIONS - NO PHONE, NO RAISE ****** RE-HIRES - Are eligible to come back after six months and will come back at the rate they left not to exceed 24%. Their vacation will be the same not to exceed $550. GUARANTEE
WAGES - If a driver is available for loads and has a phone and
HazMat endorsement, he/she will
be guaranteed $450.00 per week wages, regardless
of how slow business is.
VACATIONS - A driver will be paid his guarantee for one week vacation per year; effective twelve months after employment date. After 2 yrs. vacation pay will increase by $100 and another $100 at the beginning of the 5th year. Vacation dates are subject to the approval of the dispatcher. You do not have to take the vacation... you can receive pay in lieu of the time off. Home Time - Drivers average being home a couple days a week, but at the same time there are instances where a driver might be out at least two weeks. Elliott Truck Line, Inc. has a mixture of local, regional and national (48 states & Canada) hauls.
All employees contribute $.25 per week into an employees fund. This
pays for flowers, gifts, employee misfortunes, and various other occurrences
such as our annual awards dinner and an occasional summer picnic.
This alleviates the need to take up a collection when the above situations
arise. THIS POLICY WAS REQUESTED BY THE EMPLOYEES OF ELLIOTT TRUCK
LINE, INC. and has been in effect for many years.
INSURANCE BENEFITS
The company has the following insurance programs available for our employees:
1. MAJOR MEDICAL/HOSPITALIZATION
2. INDIVIDUAL LIFE 3. ACCIDENT/DISABILITY 4. CANCER/STROKE 5. DENTAL
After three continuous months of employment, the driver is eligible to
enroll in the various insurance programs.
MAJOR MEDICAL/HOSPITALIZATION: The employee only has to contribute $19.00 a week for his/her insurance, but pays more to include his/her family or spouse. These costs are subject to change from year to year, therefore, it is necessary for the employee to check with the office for the current cost of coverage for the present year. We are constantly striving to acquire the best coverage for the most reasonable price.
All employees will be notified when they are eligible to sign up for
insurance. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOU ARE NOT AUTOMATICALLY
COVERED!! An application needs to be filled out by you, signed,
and sent in to our insurance carrier. If you feel that you cannot
afford insurance on your family, you should still come in and take it
out on yourself. At least you will have hospitalization coverage and the mandatory life insurance coverage which
varies from $10,000 to $20,000 depending which plan we have at the time.
INDIVIDUAL
LIFE; ACCIDENT/DISABILITY; & CANCER/STROKE:
We have
these other options available to our employees at group rates, if you
feel a need for any specific coverage. These are completely optional
to you and the company pays no part of the premium. We will however,
set your premiums up on payroll deductions and hold out a portion each
week, while making the monthly payments for the group.
SAFE DRIVING We recognize our drivers each year with safe driving awards. Currently we recognize each consecutive year of safe driving (without a preventable accident), with patches and pins. We also keep track of safe driving miles. Drivers will receive awards for 500,000 , 750,000 and One, two and three Million "Safe Driving Miles" in conjunction with their "Consecutive Years of Safe Driving" awards. These mileage awards consist of Patches, Pins, and Belt Buckles. The Million Mile award also receive a engraved Wall Plaque. When a driver is awarded a "Million Mile" award his/her name, along with our company name is placed in the ATA Hall of Fame in Washington, D.C.
After a 3 year period, any driver who is involved in a preventable accident,
will have One Hundred Thousand miles and (1) year deducted from their total
Safe Driving Record. If they have a 2nd accident within a 3 year period of the previous accident;
they will lose Two Hundred Thousand miles and (2) years from their record.
If they have a 3rd accident within 3 years, their record will be reduced to
zero miles and zero years. (Providing they are still employed with ELLIOTT
TRUCK LINE, Inc.)
