Safety:

We at Elliott Truck Line, consider the safety of our employees, customers and general public to be first and foremost, whether it be on the highway or in our customers facilities. Our people are highly trained in every aspect of their job, with safety and service given the highest priority.

Training:

After he/she has been screened and selected for employment as a driver for Elliott Truck Line, he/she will receive two days of orientation, training and testing at our office in Vinita, Oklahoma.

This training consists of: Watching DVD's (subjects ranging from Hours of Service to Handling, Loading and Transportation of Hazardous Materials), reading various publications and Company manuals, testing in Hazmat and logs, also one hour of Drug and Alcohol abuse counseling.

We are in full compliance with the U.S. DOT Drug/Alcohol testing regulations.  All our drivers are subject to Pre-employment, Random, Probable Cause, and Post Accident drug screens.

After our new-hires complete their orientation, they spend at least a week running with one of our driver trainers.  During this week, they will be instructed in the handling, loading, and unloading of hazardous materials and any other products we haul.  They will get familiar with procedures of the various plants at which we load and unload.  They also learn to properly fill out their paper work as well as checking to see if Bills-of-lading and Waste Manifests are properly filled out before accepting the load.

If after a weeks training, the trainer thinks our new driver is ready; he/she is assigned a tractor and begins to work solo.  Our dispatcher will closely monitor his/her progress for ninety days (probation period).

All of our drivers carry the required safety equipment for the handling of hazardous materials.  They are also knowledgeable of all regulations pertaining to Hazmat and Truck Transportation over our nations highways.

We recognize our drivers each year with safe driving awards.  Currently we recognize each consecutive year of safe driving (without a preventable accident), with patches and pins.  We also keep track of safe driving miles.  Drivers will receive awards for 500,000 , 750,000 One Million and Two Million "Safe Driving Miles" in conjunction with their "Consecutive Years of Safe Driving" awards.  These mileage awards consist of Patches, Pins, and Belt Buckles.  The Million Mile awards also has a solid oak Wall Plaque with an engraved Bronze Plate.  When a driver is awarded a "One Million or Two Million" award his/her name, along with our company name is placed in the ATA Hall of Fame in Washington, D.C.  We also give a "Driver of the Year" award through our insurance company.
